last night, i went to celebrate my grandpa's birthday with my cousins, aunts and uncles. as i have many cousins, we have an "adults" table and a "childrens" table. the "childrens" table should have a different name. we are not kids any more. the youngest "kid" in my family is my age!
my mom, grandmother, my sis and i rushed to yishun as soon as my sis and i finished tuition at about 6pm. we took a train there. the place is called bottle tree park as there is a tree planted there which looks terribly like a bottle. it is a fish farm. many children were fishing in small ponds where there were many fishes. the fishes were like so many until you could just put your net in the water and scoop and will have at least 5 fishes in your net. can you imagine?!
when we arrived at the restaurant, all my cousins were there except jonathan which i have no idea why he did not turn up. anyway, my grandpa looked very happy that we were there i'm sure all of us felt happy too.
service there was really bad and we had to wait for almost 45mins for our food. the waitress told us 10 mins and in the end the first dish came 45mins later. i guess she just doesn't know how to read the clock.
the food did not taste disgusting nor fantastic. we did not find it very nice. there was one dish that cost $50 bucks and did not taste very nice at all. most of us did not even touch it.. it was a little bit disgusting. i couldn't believe my ears when i head one of my uncles saying the cost..
rachel jie, my cousin, and her boyfriend came late. when she finally came after her 5.2km charity run, she walked past us and headed straight to the "adults" table. i said" rachel jie don't want us liao" and the rest were like " yala! she go straight to the "adults" table and did not even say hi.." we decided to shout " rachel jie!! come over lehh!!" and make her come sit with us and we really did do that. she hesitated and finally took her plate and started walking over with her boyfriend. when she reached and almost sat down, we shouted " don't want you liao!!" and she pouted. HAHA! who asked her to go straight to the "adults" table..
in the end we told her we were just kidding and she sat down. there is a tradition where we always follow in the "childrens" table. it is that we cannot sit with our own siblings. it was created by us when we we childish and disliked our own siblings. now we get over it but the tradition still remains.
we planned to go catch a movie today. we decided on transformers but only 6 of us could make it.many funny things happened during dinner and we laughed until all the other people seated else where turned and looked at us but we still did not care. i will just mention one funny thing. shawn and joseph, my cousins, eat a certain type of vegetables named kang kong but the rest of us don't. well, rachel jie is known through out our family for eating almost everything you give her. meaning she likes to eat many things. as only 2 people were eating the kang kong at first, there was a lot left when rachel came. shawn said " rachel, you want kang kong?" and she said " ok. not too much." he picked some up with his chop sticks and put the vegetables on the plate. two seconds later he went " rachel, you like kang kong?" and without waiting for her reply, just put some on her plate. she looked at his with the " oh my god shawn you are so weird" expression. another 2 seconds passed and he went " rachel, you like kang kong?" and put, this time, a bunch of kang kong on her plate.
she stood up and went to the "adults" table to complain about shawn while laughing. asking someone from the other table to help her eat the vegetables. HAHA. when she was gone, we quickly replaced her small plate of kang kong with the whole big plate of kang kong. when he came back she went " shawn!!!" and we all laughed including the victim, rachel jie herself. actually, i have one more very funny part which i cannot post because of rachel jie sees it i will be so dead meat! including another person who i cannot mention. if anyone wants to know, ask me personally. thank you!
back to the story..
after dinner, all the cousins washed our hands and decorated the blueberry cheese cake we bought as a birthday cake for my grandfather with strawberry flavoured chocolate sprinkles. it looked pretty nice for a cake done by kids. my grandfather is 78 years old and the cake was overcrowded with candles. as usual, we sang the birthday song and took pictures and finally ate the delicious cake.
i took a train home too with my cousins joleen, fiona, frederick, my sis and my mom. we had so much fun in the train, laughing our heads off when my cousin saw an indian man scratching his private part and another took off his shoes.. how rude! fiona and frederick, siblings, got off at bukit batok. when we reached jurong east MRT station, we decided not to go home first and had a quick bite at McDonald's.
we then walked home, still chatting all the way. as joleen is my cousin and is also my neighbour, we usually go home together. i had to sleep early as i had to wake up early the next day in order to be on time for the show. fiona, frederick, ranie, joseph and i planned to watch it.
